Northwick Park golf course and clubhouse

Northwick Park golf course and clubhouse opened in autumn 2005 at Northwick Park in Brent, West London. Operated by Playgolf Ltd, the course is accurately modelled on holes from some of the worlds’ most famous golf courses, including Augusta, Royal Troon, Royal Birkdale, Valderrama and Oak Hills.

The clubhouse incorporates a two-tier 60-bay driving range, including five video teaching bays, several restaurants, retail units and conference facilities.

Jewers Doors were approached by Charles Mador Chartered Architects to design a series of doors to secure the five teaching bays at night but which could be opened during the day to allow golfers to hit balls out onto the golf-range. The doors had to be solid enough to resist impact and prevent dangerous ricochets from shanked golf balls.

The Phoenix range Swift door was the perfect solution.

With high-density flat composite panels, hardwearing plastic coated finish, low headroom requirements, and flush stacking at the sides; Swift 2+2 manually operated doors were a natural choice to close the 3.7m wide x 4.0m high openings. Top tracks were 'boxed in', and recessed handles incorporated to further reduce ricochets from stray balls.

The project was constructed by Crispin & Borst of Maidenhead.
