Third hangar doors contract for HKBAC

Jewers Doors will supply its latest Esavian doors for a new hangar being built at Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre (HKBAC), which is located at Hong Kong International Airport. The HKBAC is Asia's premier executive aviation support facility for those who own, operate or charter business aircraft. Jewers Doors designed, manufactured and installed Esavian doors in the company's first hangar in 1997.

Later, when a second hangar was built, another company supplied the doors for it. Now, with the third hangar designed to accommodate six to eight aircraft, Jewers Doors was once again the first choice to design, manufacture and install its Esavian doors.

Managing Director, Chris Jewers, says: "While we never like to lose a contract, it's always good when we win one back. The Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre is one of a number of high profile projects we have worked on recently. These have undoubtedly enhanced the reputation of Jewers Doors such that we are now world market leaders in hangar doors. That's not bad for a family-owned, UK-based manufacturing company."

Jewers Doors has been supplying doors for all sizes of hangars for many years (including 66 doors for Boeing 747 hangar bays) and in the last decade has boosted its standing worldwide by supplying doors for the majority of new 'super hangars' – built to accommodate Airbus A380 aircraft. It is also winning contracts in new markets, including Azerbaijan, Turkey and Tanzania, while maintaining a strong presence in the UK and Middle East.

For HKBAC, Jewers Doors will supply a set of Esavian Type 126 sliding doors to enclose an opening measuring 76 metres wide by 8.5 metres high. A progressive development of Esavian doors first supplied nearly 100 years ago, the latest versions incorporate sophisticated electronic controls and many safety features. They are also 'environmentally friendly' doors, complying with the demanding Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) internationally recognized green building certification system.
