Aylesbury Fire Station
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service took possession of a new state-of-the-art fire station in Aylesbury in April 2005, replacing the existing station, which had served for more than 30 years. The station was designed by Building Design & Management of Cambridge and built by Birse Construction.
The appliance bay doors were specified as Phoenix range Swift doors by Jewers Doors of Biggleswade.
For 20 years Jewers Doors has used the FAAC 560 motor on all its Swift doors. From closed, the doors provide full opening width and height in just seven seconds - approximately 10 seconds faster than a typical sectional overhead door of the same size.
On this specific project at Aylesbury Fire Station there are five appliance bays, with automatic doors on the front and matching hand operated doors on the rear. There are also an additional four doors on the workshops.
